Established in the year 1920, FM GRU Tower Cranes began as a family company in the Northern Italy's largest industrial location. In the 1950s, when the farming economy was evolving into a manufacturing and industrial economy, the company was working in the metal structural sector and welded construction industries. FMgru was involved in building bridges for roads, pylons to convey electricity, various types of forklifts, presses, prefabrication molds and farming machines.
The business began crane production during 1963. Over time, the business pooled all of its resources into this one activity. The target of this streamlining was to reach the highest specialization level in the field of lifting.
