In the year 1966, Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries. At that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" which was utilized to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism really impressed clients and hence, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, as the need for lifts and work platforms grew. Over time, when the requirements for new equipment to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in many new markets. For example, Genie went into manufacturing stick booms, telehandlers, man-lifts, articulated booms and light towers.
Due to the economic slump in the start of the 2000s, Genie decided to obtain a partner who had the same values. They partnered up together with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring equipment manufacturers across the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the first years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Thus, all Genie machinery continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
Genie takes pride in listening to their clients. The company is dedicated to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also dedicated to lessening waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on providing outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines which have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machinery.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC machines are emission-free, quiet equipment capable of working in delicate work environments. Where the machine must be driven significant distances, like for example within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator together with the benefits of a 48V DC machinery.
Telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach, as opposed to any of the various aerial platforms. These machines are great for limited access areas or small areas in all types of settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to provide utmost productivity. These machines provide supreme traction and the drive speed you require to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
