Types of Aisles
Narrow Aisle and Wide Aisle lift trucks are classed due to the types of aisles they have been designed to operate in. These machinery can turn in an aisle, while Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn within the aisle. There are some aisle widths to consider with different models.
Very Narrow Aisle or VNA trucks operate in less than 6 feet areas and often use certain guidance systems like optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel within the aisles. Some various models of VNA trucks include Order Selectors, Turret Trucks and Swing Masts. These are common kinds in tight retail spaces and in some storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks can work within aisles which are 8 feet to 10 feet. Usually these are stand-up models like for example Reach Trucks. They are often used within warehouses and storage facilities.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work in aisles that are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up units offer padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are designed to reduce operator fatigue by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the operator is really big and has an 8" low step height that helps reduce overall body exhaustion by easing frequent exit and entry. The unit includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to allow smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat along with a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and hence more productive while limiting fatigue.
